Aeroplan and World of Hyatt launch reciprocal loyalty partnership with points transfers and status fast-tracks

If you've ever wished your hotel points could pay for a flight — or your airline miles could cover a hotel night — Air Canada's Aeroplan and World of Hyatt just made that a lot more real. The two programs announced a reciprocal loyalty partnership on July 15, 2026, letting members link accounts and move value between one of Canada's dominant airline programs and one of the most coveted hotel loyalty programs in the world.

According to Hyatt's newsroom and Air Canada, the collaboration spans a combined network of more than 1,300 destinations and 1,500 hotels. The headline mechanics: Aeroplan members can redeem points for World of Hyatt Free Night Awards starting at 25,000 Aeroplan points, covering Category 1–4 and Category 1–7 properties. Going the other direction, World of Hyatt members can redeem their points for a 30,000-point Aeroplan flight reward certificate, redeemable on Air Canada and its airline partners.

Here's what members can actually do right now — and what's worth knowing before you log in.

The first step for anyone is linking accounts through the official Aeroplan or World of Hyatt websites. That link is the gateway to nearly every benefit in the partnership. Once connected, Aeroplan members can earn Hyatt points on stays or opt for Aeroplan points instead. Points can also be converted between programs, subject to minimums, according to reporting by The Points Guy.

The most valuable tier of benefits is reserved for Aeroplan Elite Status members and holders of eligible premium Aeroplan credit cards issued in Canada. Those members can fast-track their way to World of Hyatt elite status through an annual 90-day challenge, according to The Points Guy. Eligible Canadian cardholders also gain additional perks at Hyatt properties, including accelerated earning on purchases.

For World of Hyatt loyalists who don't hold Aeroplan elite status, the partnership is still useful — particularly the ability to cash out Hyatt points for Aeroplan flight certificates — but the richest benefits clearly tilt toward Aeroplan's top-tier and premium cardholders. The Points Guy noted that the cardholder perks are currently limited to Canadian-issued Aeroplan cards, which will frustrate U.S.-based Hyatt fans who were hoping for symmetry.
