Peachtree City Packers open fall football and cheer registration — late fees now in effect

Registration for the Peachtree City Packers' 2026 fall tackle football and sideline cheerleading season is open right now — but families who haven't signed up yet are already paying more. Late registration fees kicked in June 1, according to fayettecountyfootball.com.

The Packers serve players and cheerleaders ages 6U through 12U and compete in the Central Georgia Youth Sports Association (CGYSA). Games are expected to start Aug. 23 and run for 8–10 weeks on Saturdays, wrapping up around mid-November. A league bye week falls Oct. 10–14; coaches expect players back at practice by Oct. 15 for games resuming Oct. 17.

Families can register an individual player or sign up an entire team. The organization says its mission is to keep kids playing in the school district where they'll eventually attend high school, and it explicitly does not recruit out-of-county all-star players.

For football, the program provides a certified helmet, shoulder pads, and practice and game uniforms. Parents are responsible for purchasing a hard-shell chin strap, a fitted mouthpiece that attaches to the helmet, athletic underclothing, football cleats, game and practice pants, and a half-gallon to gallon of water for every event.

Practices are generally held twice a week on Tuesdays and Thursdays, though the head coach sets the final schedule. Key pre-season dates include a July 6 practice start, a July 11 head coaches meeting, mandatory player certification Aug. 1, and a jamboree Aug. 8 — two weeks before the first regular-season game.

On the cheer side, Sideline Cheer Coordinator Alexa Burley says the 2026 registration fee covers league fees, a choreography camp, a full uniform package with poms, a cheer bag, a game bow, and a practice tank with a jacket or hoodie. New members must also purchase a megaphone for $75 on top of the registration fee. Squads are aligned with football age groups and will travel to away games, most of which are within an hour of Peachtree City.

This season also marks the third year of the Packers' Girls Flag Football program. Registration for that spring program remains open throughout the season, according to the organization's website.

The Packers also run a boys 7v7 passing league on Sunday afternoons, with tournament dates running from late March through late June. That format is non-contact — a flag pull ends each play — and teams are divided into age brackets: 6U/7U, 8U/9U, 10U/11U, and 12U/13U/14U.

The organization, which traces its roots through Starr's Mill Youth Football, McIntosh Youth Football, and Fayette County Community Youth Football, says it is now in its 45th year of community youth football. All coaches are certified through Heads Up Safety and USA Football and undergo background checks. A mentoring program pairs youth players and cheerleaders with high school varsity athletes at games and practices.
