Simu Liu and Allison Hsu marry in France, after Paris proposal

Simu Liu and Allison Hsu are married. The actor and the music executive wed in France over the weekend, according to TMZ, which first reported the news. The ceremony came after Liu proposed to Hsu near the Eiffel Tower — making France the backdrop for both the question and the answer.

The couple had been dating since late 2022. Hsu made it Instagram official on November 20 of that year with a photo of the two of them and a smiling emoji as the only caption. Nine days later, they made their red carpet debut together at the Los Angeles premiere of Violent Night.

Liu announced the engagement on May 11, 2025, in a joint Instagram post that included a photo of him on one knee near the Eiffel Tower and Hsu showing off a diamond ring.

From weekends in Paris, day trips to Palm Springs, long nights on set, afternoons vegging on the couch and everything in between, I choose you forever and always.— Simu Liu

Hsu revisited the proposal on Instagram on December 31, 2025, writing 'Best day of 2025, and the best year ahead.' Liu replied in the comments: 'Pretty stressful one for me.'

The first public signal that a wedding was imminent came on September 1, when Hsu posted photos of her bachelorette party in Tulum, Mexico, writing 'Miss to Mrs with all my b****es' alongside images of herself in bridal attire with a group of friends, according to The Straits Times.

Liu is best known for playing Shang-Chi in Marvel's Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings (2021) and for his role as rival Ken in Barbie (2023). He is set to reprise Shang-Chi in Avengers: Doomsday. At San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, he described the character as 'a lot more confident and a more self-assured version of who he was when we last saw him.'

Hsu is vice-president of digital marketing at Interscope Records, according to The Straits Times — though TMZ describes her title as digital marketing director. She joined the label as an intern in 2017 and was named to Forbes' 30 Under 30 music list in 2022.

Neither Liu nor Hsu had shared official wedding photos or a public statement as of the time of reporting. TMZ said it reached out to Liu's representative without receiving a response.

Why it matters — The wedding closes the public chapter of a well-documented celebrity relationship and arrives as Liu is about to return to one of Marvel's biggest ensemble films.
